Dogs Don't Talk
It has become increasingly difficult to have a pet with the regulations guarding all the wild places one might walk with them off the leash.
I cannot remember a time where animals were not in my life. Cats, sulphur crested cockies, budgies, or dogs were alway lurking around in the background. Lets leave birds aside.
I always had them as escorts. I took it for granted that they would be my third eye, the eyes in the back of my head, and the eyes that stayed open when my lids were shut. They are tuned into what really matters in regards to our place in this world. They are usually not blind or blunted to the true existential dangers that we are with all our invisible laws and orders supposedly there to protect us against bad things. Animals are not interested in the silver tongues of men with their false promises and deceptions. Unlike us, they don’t trust anything other than their senses - most of those senses are long paralysed or numb in us. Animals are tuned into their instinctual warning signs. They take action. They bark, growl, hiss, attack and bolt. They don’t talk. When I was in the desert, mostly alone, the dogs were like a forcefield that was always circling not far from where I was. I knew I could depend upon them totally.
If you have not had an animal in your life do this for you, you may have missed out on one of the most magnificent partnerships available to us, and I suggest you make some room in your life to try it before you go - so that you will know what it feels like to have a kind of warm furry app attached to your side, 24/7 with a personalisation, dedication and loyalty you will never get from another human being ever until death do they part from you or you from them.
I had a small hiatus from dogs for a few years recently, but have never had a hiatus from all animals ever, never ever ever. We had an old grumpy cat who held the space, like a place mark, and enjoyed her royal dominance over us all for a period of time. There has always been at least one animal by my side.
Oh they are such a nuisance so many say … they tie you down, they cost so much to maintain, they make such a mess, they wreck everything, they stink, they are naughty, they are so dependant and on and on it goes. The dog rescue shelters are full of evidence of people not being able to hack it, and giving up. When I acquired my most recent young escort, George, un-spayed, robust, clown-like, chocolate labrador - as a puppy - I was shocked, and contemplated an escape route for about nine months. I was far too embarrassed to give him up. He was the first dog in my whole life of many dogs, who I could not seem to get to recall and be a good boy. However I stuck at it. Now? You would need to kill me to take him and he still has lousy re-call.
To cure how difficult he was, I acquired another one (yeh I know, but wait…), a three year old failed breeder. The owners were appalled that despite what they had paid for her just two months earlier, including flying her all the way across the country, from Adelaide to Albany, she stuffed up. All that potential to spit out a good dozen or so $3,000 notes (pure bred chocolate lab pups) was dashed when she could not get one of them out, and they all died bar one. She had to have a caesarean, and to avoid future problems, they just spayed her. They were furious. So they put her up for sale to try to at least recover the operation costs. I paid it. She is the most beautiful little lady I have ever met, and George is delighted to have a companion, and it has made things far easier because she is a very good girl with excellent recall and other things.
They are both very well tuned into instinctual protection. I worry that there are many dogs that bark continually at nothing because they are not able to confirm danger from safety - and this usually occurs when the dog is denied development in this area due to over domestic restrictions they live within. That gives them a bad name. Its not how its meant to be.
When I speak about who the real authority is - it is nature, and if we acknowledge nature in its fullest form, with all its parts, we know that there are many dangers we will face, but 99.99% of them come from other humans and their ill intentions. If my animal has an instinct around the dangers that mankind presents, when I have them with me, I am more aligned with the true laws of my existence, and it explains my preference to have them rather than not.
Then we can see all the laws that have been made against dogs. The law wants to kill the dogs that do the best job of protecting their masters because the dogs undermine the invisible control mans laws have over men with a far stronger and usually more accurate instinct.
What about dog therapy. What is it? People come to feel a great sense of trust and safety with a dogs instinctual presence nearby. There are many cases of people roaring out of depression instantly due to a dog arriving on the scene. The dog addresses the core heart. They are the soul keepers. They live close to nature. They are instinctually responsive beings, so you can trust them, because they are close to the big boss, they listen to that. Any wonder why they put down so many good dogs for just doing their job.
